To ignore the Select Committee process where people have their say, is arrogant and an attempt to avoid public scrutiny

Data updated in July 2026 by the Clerk of the House shows the current Coalition has passed more Bills under urgency, and more Bills bypassing the Select Committee process, than any government since 1987, when the current system was set up. This is consistent with Newsroom's April 2026 report that the government had set a new record for the number of bills skipping select committee scrutiny altogether.
