Labour is introducing 7 new taxes

At the time of publishing (July 22), Labour had announced only a single new tax; a 28% Capital Gains Tax on investment property. This ring-fenced funding earmarked for costed healthcare initiatives (three free GP visits, free prescriptions, free maternity scans, and free cervical cancer testing).

National, under campaign chair Simeon Brown, had itself rolled back funding for free prescriptions, implying these were not policies of its own. National's tally of Labour's "new taxes" escalated over the following weeks, reported at various points as six, then seven (as claimed here), then nine, then eleven, but the bulk of the alleged taxes were actually proposals from other left-leaning parties like the Greens and TOP, not Labour, which had announced only the one CGT policy.
